Safe package test
Test the PyPI Package Safely with Docker
Docker lets you test the public package without changing host Python, a local virtual environment, or the development checkout. The command below starts a disposable container with --rm, no repository mount, and no GitHub remote access.
user@mac$ docker --version
user@mac$ docker info
user@mac$ docker run --rm hello-world
user@mac$ docker run --rm -it python:3.13-slim bash
root@<container-id>:/# python --version
root@<container-id>:/# python -m pip list
root@<container-id>:/# which agentic-kit || true
root@<container-id>:/# apt-get update
root@<container-id>:/# apt-get install -y git
root@<container-id>:/# git --version
root@<container-id>:/# git config --global user.name "Test User"
root@<container-id>:/# git config --global user.email "test@example.invalid"
root@<container-id>:/# python -m pip install agentic-project-kit
root@<container-id>:/# agentic-kit --version
root@<container-id>:/# python -m pip show agentic-project-kit
root@<container-id>:/# mkdir /path/to/project
root@<container-id>:/# cd /path/to/project
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project# agentic-kit --help
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project# agentic-kit init demo-project --type generic --description "Docker package smoke"
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project# cd demo-project
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project/demo-project# agentic-kit check
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project/demo-project# agentic-kit doctor
root@<container-id>:/path/to/project/demo-project# exit
The container filesystem is removed when exit ends a docker run --rm session. Docker images may remain in Docker Desktop until you remove them with Docker's image cleanup tools.
